Time to Pivot

I was invited to go in on a new project. We put together a concept, a proposal, negotiated and won all in October of 2025. What we took on was a behemoth. What we were doing was everything we proposed and everything they said they were going to manage.

I devoted everything to this project. I put everything else except my other client, on the back burner. I stopped talking about the thing I had been talking about for 5 years, my book. I had finally published it, but this new opportunity took my attention away. I was going to be able to say I did this really big thing and that was going to be worth me putting my personal dreams and goals aside.

Then the project got cancelled. Reasons beyond our control and far beyond the 10 months of work, blood, sweat, tears, yelling, chaos, stress and sleeplessness we contributed.

Here we were one day planning, scoping, preparing and the next day left stranded on a dirt road.

I walked that dirt road back empty handed, defeated and confused.

and I made my way back home. New purpose, new drive, renewed sense of what I want.

I had to pivot, not into something I didn't know, but back into something that was hard.

Putting everything into a project allowed me to make excuses to disregard my vulnerability.

But when that project disappeared from my calendar, all those insecurities came flooding back. But now, I'm facing them head on again. This time, however, with an intense understanding that what I have to offer is bigger than I can imagine. And it won't take a day, it will take perseverance. It will take grit, humility and hard work.

So I'm in the pivot, to share my story, to help others see their own in a different perspective.

So let's pivot together. I learned to take breaks at the bend when I was hiking up Machu Pichu and I wrote about what that means in my book, Break at the Bend, and now I'm starting over, where I was before.

I did that four years ago when I was in the thick of my grief after losing my mom, I had to relearn how to show up. I had to get present even when I wanted to grieve. The laughter I had on this day, it was my soul catching up to the experience of living.

Now I'm learning again to show up, only this time...I'm armed with experience on how to do it.

Let's go there together.
